Read on to learn what you need to know about <span data-term-id=\"58263398\">bankruptcy filing<\/span> rules.<\/p>\n<h2>The Different <span data-term-id=\"58263414\">Types of Bankruptcies<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The U.S.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/codes.findlaw.com\/us\/title-11-bankruptcy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-term-id=\"58263407\">Bankruptcy Code<\/span><\/a>\u00a0governs all <span data-term-id=\"58263414\">types of bankruptcies<\/span> and imposes <span data-term-id=\"58263442\">time limits<\/span> for\u00a0how quickly\u00a0a debtor can file\u00a0for another\u00a0bankruptcy. While the most common <span data-term-id=\"58263414\">types of bankruptcy<\/span> are Chapter 7 and Chapter 13, there are other <span data-term-id=\"58263414\">types of bankruptcy<\/span> available.<\/p>\n<p>According to the United States <span data-term-id=\"58263407\">Bankruptcy Code<\/span>, there are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.findlaw.com\/bankruptcy\/what-is-bankruptcy\/bankruptcy-definition-what-exactly-is-it.html\">six <span data-term-id=\"58263414\">types of bankruptcy<\/span><\/a>. The trustee must also determine that you filed your first <span data-term-id=\"58263394\">bankruptcy case<\/span> in <span data-term-id=\"58263397\">good faith<\/span> to qualify for Chapter 7.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Repeating a <span data-term-id=\"58263399\">Chapter 13 <\/span><span data-term-id=\"58263398\">bankruptcy<\/span><span data-term-id=\"58263398\"> filing<\/span><\/strong>:\u00a0Some people repeat a Chapter 13 filing to help manage outstanding student loans or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.findlaw.com\/bankruptcy\/what-is-bankruptcy\/bankruptcy-and-taxes-eliminating-tax-debts-in-bankruptcy.html\">tax debts<\/a>. The court won\u2019t discharge these debts, which means that eventually you\u2019ll have to\u00a0pay them in full.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Every situation is different and may be better suited for a particular <span data-term-id=\"58263414\">type of <\/span><span data-term-id=\"58263398\">bankruptcy<\/span><span data-term-id=\"58263398\"> filing<\/span>.<\/p>\n<h2>\u201cChapter 20 Bankruptcy\u201d: Filing Another Bankruptcy Before the <span data-term-id=\"58263442\">Time Limit<\/span> Is Up<\/h2>\n<p>The above <span data-term-id=\"58263442\">time limits<\/span> refer to how long a debtor must wait to include a debt in another bankruptcy.
