Arizona has some of the strictest state\u2011level immigration laws in the country, including S.B. 1070 and mandatory E\u2011Verify for employers. Many of these measures have been narrowed or struck down by federal courts, especially provisions tied to immigration checks, criminalizing unlawful presence, and concerns about racial profiling.<\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n\n\n

Arizona Senate Bill 1070 is one of the toughest immigration laws in the United States. But a 2012 U.S. Supreme Court ruling significantly whittled the law down. A 2016 settlement between Arizona and immigrants’ rights groups affected its use as well.<\/p>\n
