The most prominent federal law is the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nlrb.gov\/guidance\/key-reference-materials\/national-labor-relations-act\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Labor Relations Act (NLRA)<\/a>. The NLRA grants employees the right to organize and collectively bargain. It also represents workers in public service, healthcare, and education.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iaff.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">International Association of Firefighters (IAFF)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The IAFF seeks to protect the interests of full-time professional firefighters and paramedics.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goiam.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>IAM advocates for workers in the aerospace, transportation, and manufacturing industries.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ibew.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>IBEW represents workers in utilities, construction, telecommunications, broadcasting, manufacturing, railroads, and government.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ilwu.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>ILWU represents longshoremen at all West Coast ports.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.iuoe.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The IUOE represents operating engineers, health industry workers, and public employees.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/iupat.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The IUPAT represents workers in the finishing trades. This includes painting, drywall finishing, glazing, and floor covering.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.liuna.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Laborers&#8217; International Union of North America (LIUNA)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>LIUNA represents workers in construction, environmental remediation, healthcare, and public service.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nalc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The NALC works to protect job quality for city delivery letter carriers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nea.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Education Association&nbsp;(NEA)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The NEA has over three million members. It advocates for education professionals and the cause of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.findlaw.com\/education.html\">public education.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nflpa.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Football League Players Association (NFLPA)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The NFLPA represents professional football players in the National Football League (NFL).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.seiu.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Service Employees International Union&nbsp;(SEIU)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The SEIU has over two million members. It&#8217;s dedicated to improving the lives of nurses, health care professionals, public employees, and workers in the hotel, restaurant, and hospitality industries.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/teamster.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Teamsters<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Teamsters works to organize and educate workers toward a higher standard of living.
