Finally, landlords must return the deposit within 45 days of the tenant moving out.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of location, landlords should send the refund to the tenant via certified mail to avoid disputes.<\/p>\n<h3><span data-term-id=\"60143098\">Security Deposit<\/span> Deductions<\/h3>\n<p>Landlords can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.findlaw.com\/realestate\/landlord-tenant-law\/what-can-a-landlord-deduct-from-a-security-deposit-for-cleaning.html\">make certain deductions<\/a> from the <span data-term-id=\"60143098\">security deposit<\/span>, but they must provide an itemized list of these deductions.
