In 2008, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a Louisiana law<\/a> that allowed the death penalty for the rape of an 8-year-old child.<\/p>\r\n

Louisiana<\/i><\/a> (2008), the U.S. Supreme Court said that imposing a death sentence for the rape of a child if the crime did not result in the death of the victim is unconstitutional.
