Asbestos Overview<\/h2>\r\n

Asbestos is a non-combustible, naturally occurring mineral formed millions of years ago. In the more recent past, from the early 1900\u2019s to the late 1970\u2019s, asbestos<\/a> was used in a wide-variety of commercial products. Some common uses include shipbuilding, fireproofing, thermal and acoustical insulation, condensation control, decoration, and in the construction and manufacturing sectors. Asbestos was once considered a champion insulator because it is durable, resists corrosion, and insulates extremely well, thus it was used in a massive number of products. That\u2019s until we learned more about this so-called wonder insulator. Asbestos has a fatal side effect \u2013 it causes severe health problems<\/a> (some of them fatal) from differing amounts of exposure. The problem is, asbestos has been used throughout the United States for so long that there is a lot of it still out there.<\/p>\r\n

The state of Arizona does not take this product lightly. The state has asbestos regulations in place, along with those established by the federal government. If you are attempting to renovate your building and it is known to have asbestos, you must follow very strict rules in the handling, removal, transport, and disposal of products containing asbestos. Why? Because exposure to asbestos can cause cancer and respiratory diseases in humans, particularly mesothelioma<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n
