Under the Fair Wages and Healthy Families Act, <span data-term-id=\"40870389\">private employers<\/span> in <span data-term-id=\"40870366\">Arizona<\/span> must provide earned <span data-term-id=\"40870393\">sick time<\/span> to their employees. <span data-term-id=\"40870366\">Arizona<\/span> workers are protected by federal <span data-term-id=\"40870397\">leave laws<\/span> such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.findlaw.com\/employment\/family-medical-leave\/family-and-medical-leave-laws-by-state.html\">Family and Medical Leave Act<\/a> (FMLA). <span data-term-id=\"40870370\">Federal law<\/span> guarantees workers up to 12 weeks of unpaid\u00a0<span data-term-id=\"40870402\">sick leave<\/span>\u00a0to care for an ill or injured family member or to recover from a serious illness.<\/p>\n<p><span data-term-id=\"40870388\">Vacation time<\/span> is usually part of an <span data-term-id=\"40870404\">employment contract<\/span>. No state or <span data-term-id=\"40870370\">federal law<\/span> requires any <span data-term-id=\"40870388\">vacation time<\/span> for exempt or <span data-term-id=\"40870401\">non-exempt<\/span> employees. Employers determine <span data-term-id=\"40870396\">eligibility<\/span> for <span data-term-id=\"40870388\">vacation time<\/span> based on their internal policies and requirements, such as seniority or total <span data-term-id=\"40870408\">work hours<\/span>.<\/p>\n<h2>Get Legal Advice From an <span data-term-id=\"40870366\">Arizona<\/span> <span data-term-id=\"40870372\">Employment Law<\/span> Attorney<\/h2>\n<p><span data-term-id=\"40870394\">Public employees<\/span> should receive <span data-term-id=\"40870376\">holiday pay<\/span> for working over <span data-term-id=\"40870382\">legal holidays<\/span> or be paid at their <span data-term-id=\"40870413\">regular rate<\/span> if they do not work.
