Oakland is the busiest port city in Northern California and one of the most diverse cities in the country. The city also has very busy court system. There are five courthouses in or near downtown Oakland that serve the County of Alameda Superior Court<\/a>. The Superior Court has seven divisions – civil, small claims, family law, probate, criminal, traffic and juvenile – and many more departments. Oakland also has two federal court locations: one for district court cases and another for bankruptcy proceedings.
