In Colorado, the time limit, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.findlaw.com\/state\/colorado-law\/colorado-civil-statute-of-limitations-laws.html\">statute of limitations<\/a>, depends upon the cause of your injuries. If your pain and suffering is the result of a car accident, for instance, you must file a claim within <a href=\"https:\/\/codes.findlaw.com\/co\/title-13-courts-and-court-procedure\/co-rev-st-sect-13-80-101.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">three years<\/a> of the accident. Otherwise, you have <a href=\"https:\/\/codes.findlaw.com\/co\/title-13-courts-and-court-procedure\/co-rev-st-sect-13-80-102.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">two years<\/a> to file a lawsuit to recover damages for injuries inflicted by another party.<\/p>\r\n<h2>Amount Limits<\/h2>\r\n<p>Specific limits on the amount of non-economic damages that may be awarded may significantly limit your recovery for pain and suffering. Colorado limits non-economic damages in medical malpractice and in most other civil case to $250,000.
