A conviction will result in a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison.<\/p>\r\n<p><b>Second degree:<\/b> Class C felony. Punishable by imprisonment for at least two years.<\/p>\r\n<p><b>Third degree: <\/b>Class D felony. Under Connecticut&#8217;s child pornography possession laws, there are two affirmative defenses available:<\/p>\r\n<p>It is an affirmative defense to an allegation of child pornography possession if:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>The defendant possessed less than three visual depictions of child pornography<\/li>\r\n<li>The defendant didn&#8217;t knowingly purchase, procure, solicit, or request the child pornography and<\/li>\r\n<li>The defendant promptly and in <a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.findlaw.com\/definition\/good-faith.html\" style=\"font-size: 0.8125rem; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">good faith<\/a><span style=\"font-size: 0.8125rem;\"> took reasonable steps to destroy each copy of the child pornography or reported the matter to law enforcement<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>You can prove that you possessed or created the material for bona fide artistic, medical, scientific, educational, religious, governmental, or judicial purposes.<\/p>\r\n<h2><b>Importing Child Pornography<\/b><\/h2>\r\n<p>It is illegal to intentionally promote <a href=\"https:\/\/www.findlaw.com\/state\/criminal-laws\/child-pornography.html\">child pornography<\/a> by knowingly importing at least three pieces of child porn into the state of Connecticut.
