Welcome to FindLaw\u2019s Florida Gambling & Lottery Laws Center. Florida on gambling and lotteries can regulate, and in some instances prohibit, certain activities such as casino gaming, horse racing, and dog racing. There was a time when city planners in Miami planned to tear down their Art Deco buildings and build casinos. That didn\u2019t happen and later laws on where gambling can take place were passed. Indian casinos, for instance, are on tribal land and have different laws and agreements with Florida. Same goes with casino boats that leave Florida harbors and sail out to sea.
