See a Doctor and Tell Your Employer<\/h2>\r\n<p>If you&#8217;ve been injured, you should get medical attention and submit a <a href=\"http:\/\/dir.nv.gov\/uploadedFiles\/dirnvgov\/content\/WCS\/c-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Notice of Injury or Occupational Disease<\/a> form to your employer within seven days. You have a limited right to choose your own physician, so you should check with your employer at first. If you do get medical treatment or miss work, you must file a <a href=\"http:\/\/dir.nv.gov\/uploadedFiles\/dirnvgov\/content\/WCS\/c-4.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claim for compensation<\/a> within 90 days. The insurance company then has 30 days to either deny your claim or accept it and begin making payments.<\/p>\r\n<h2>What if There&#8217;s a Problem with My Claim?<\/h2>\r\n<p>In exchange for workers&#8217; compensation, you generally give up your right to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.findlaw.com\/injury\/workers-compensation\/workers-compensation-can-i-sue-my-employer-instead.html\" target=\"_blank\">sue your employer<\/a>. However, if your claim is denied or there is a dispute regarding benefits, you do have options, including the following:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Call the insurance claims adjuster and attempt to resolve the issue with them; or<\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/dir.nv.gov\/uploadedFiles\/dirnvgov\/content\/WCS\/d-12a.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Request a hearing<\/a> with a hearing officer within 70 days<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>If you disagree with the hearing officer&#8217;s conclusion, you may <a href=\"http:\/\/hearings.nv.gov\/appeals\/Process\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">appeal the decision<\/a> within 30 days.
