In general, damages<\/a> are money awarded to a party in a civil lawsuit for any losses or injuries that are caused by others. Damages can be divided into two categories: (1) economic and (2) noneconomic. In Oregon, "economic damages" refer to verifiable monetary losses, such as medical expenses. "Noneconomic damages," on the other hand, refer to nonmonetary losses, including pain and suffering.<\/p>\r\n
