The Tennessee General Sessions Courts hear small claims actions, which are civil cases where the amount in dispute is $25,000 or less. Tennessee designed its small claims courts to allow non-legal professionals to represent themselves in their civil disputes. But litigants may hire attorneys if they wish.<\/p>\r\n
