Ch. 9 \u00a7 640<\/a>)<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/td>\r\n<\/tr><\/tbody><\/table>\r\n<h2>Coverage<\/h2>\r\n<p>Most employers in Oklahoma are required to carry <a href=\"https:\/\/www.findlaw.com\/injury\/workers-compensation\/workers-compensation-as-the-exclusive-remedy-for-injuries.html\">workers&#8217; compensation insurance<\/a> to protect their employees. Some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.findlaw.com\/employment\/hiring-process\/being-an-independent-contractor-vs-employee.html\">employees<\/a> are exempt from this rule, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.findlaw.com\/employment\/wages-and-benefits\/domestic-workers-bill-of-rights.html\">domestic<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.findlaw.com\/employment\/wages-and-benefits\/farm-workers-and-h2b-workers-rights.html\">agricultural<\/a> workers. Coverage for mental injury is broader than in many states, but still quite limited.<\/p>\r\n<p>Both mental injuries which stem from physical injuries (&quot;mental-physical&quot;) and mental injuries which stem only from mental stimuli (&quot;mental-mental&quot;) are compensable, but the standard of proof for mental-mental injuries is quite high. Mental injuries stemming from bona fide personnel actions, such as chronic anxiety disorder after a demotion, are not covered.<\/p>\r\n<h2>Benefits<\/h2>\r\n<p>Oklahoma offers wage replacement, medical care, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.findlaw.com\/injury\/workers-compensation\/rehabilitation-rights-of-injured-workers.html\">vocational rehabilitation<\/a> benefits. Your wage replacement benefit award amount will be dependent upon the extent and duration of your disability, while your employer may initially choose a medical provider to treat you. After the initial treatment, you may change doctors once you give notice to your employer of both the reasons for your dissatisfaction with the initial health care provider and the name and address of the physician you are choosing.<\/p>\r\n<p>If your disability leaves you unable to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.findlaw.com\/injury\/workers-compensation\/workers-comp-benefits-and-returning-to-work.html\">return<\/a> to your prior occupation, vocational rehabilitation benefits help train you for a new occupation. If your loved one died due to an injury at work or an occupational disease, you may be entitled to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.findlaw.com\/legalblogs\/injured\/2015\/04\/death-at-work-workers-comp-or-wrongful-death-claim.html\">death benefits<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n<h2>Dispute Resolution<\/h2>\r\n<p>There are many possible reasons your claim could be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.findlaw.com\/injury\/workers-compensation\/workers-comp-denied-here-are-your-next-steps.html\">denied<\/a>.
