Block on Trump's Asylum Ban Upheld by Supreme Court
If you're a legal practitioner in California dealing in the insurance sphere, you'll want to make sure you're not left behind by recent legal and market developments. As the law changes and crystallizes, and as the market demands new products for new risks, California lawyers need to stay up-to-date.
Thankfully, that's not difficult to do. An upcoming program by the Rutter Group, Cutting-Edge Insurance Trends, promises to help attorneys keep current on insurance litigation trends and stay ahead of the insurance law curve. (Disclosure: The Rutter Group is FindLaw's sister company.)
The program will address recent shifts in the law and market. That includes a review of the fastest growing area of insurance, cyber insurance. As the risks and liabilities associated with cyber attacks have grown in recent years, cyber insurance has become one of the biggest new frontiers in insurance. Cutting-Edge Insurance Trends will review what's typically insured under a cyber policy, as well as how such policies are impacted by statutes, and what can be found in the current, but limited, case law.
Attendees will also learn about developments in more traditional insurance law areas, like insurance class actions, bad faith and punitive damages, "top off the policy" developments, and ethical considerations.
These issues will be presented with an emphasis on hypos and articles, presented by some of the top jurists in the state. The event will be moderated by Judge Rex Heeseman, of the Los Angeles Superior Court, and feature insurance litigators such as David B. Goodwin, from Covington and Burling, and Susan Koehler Sullivan, of Sedgwick LLP.
If learning about the latest insurance trends from some of the legal industry's leaders isn't enough, here are a few more reasons. All participants will be eligible for 3 hours of California MCLE, of course, and will have the opportunity to purchase the Rutter Group's California Practice Guides at a major discount. Both the Insurance Litigation and the (must-have) Civil Procedure Before Trial practice guides will be available for purchase at half price. That's a savings of more than $300 on each guide -- enough savings to recoup the cost of attending a few times over.
The event will be held in Los Angeles on April 12, but don't worry if you can't make it to the City of Angels on that date. The Rutter Group will also rebroadcast the event in San Francisco in May and make it available online, on CD, and on DVD. There's pretty much no way you can miss it.
