Khloe Kardashian Making Medical Decisions for Lamar Odom in Coma
Khloe Kardashian is making medical decisions for her husband, Lamar Odom, while he's in a coma. This is news because those of us who have been Keeping Up With the Kardashians -- and even those who were not -- all thought they were divorced.
Lamar Odom was rushed to a hospital in Nevada this week, having collapsed in a brothel after spending $75,000 in a weekend at The Love Ranch. Khloe rushed to his side, where he lies in a medically-induced coma. She is making decisions for her husband because it turns out that the two are technically not divorced.
The divorce papers have not been finalized. The couple filed for divorce in August and separated last year. But their story was not over.
In August, when she filed for divorce, Khloe said she would love Lamar forever and would have stayed with him if he could get his life together. "I will never, ever not love Lamar ... He was my husband, and I still wish he was, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that."
For better or worse, Khloe's wish came true. She is still married to Lamar. California has a six-month waiting period before restoring the single status of spouses after divorce papers are filed. Legally, Kloe Kardashian is still next of kin and is making medical decisions as he cannot.
According to People, Khloe, 31, is not prepared for the responsibility. "[I]t's just so overwhelming and unexpected," a source close to the family told the magazine. "She had been thinking of him as an ex."
A Note From Khloe
Although the Kardashians are famously opportunistic, Khloe is reportedly inconsolable. The whole clan is waiting for word on Lamar before actively resuming its quest for world domination.
On her website (khloe with a k) is a note: "As a family we've decided to hold off on publishing content across our apps while we continue to support and pray for Lamar. Thank you for your kindness and understanding during this difficult time." Sister sites bear the same message.
