Gucci Mane Sentenced to 6 Mos. for Battery
Atlanta-based rapper Gucci Mane was sentenced to 6 months in jail in Georgia for shoving a woman out of his moving Hummer last January.
Gucci Mane, whose real name is Radric Delantic Davis, pled guilty to two counts of battery, two counts of reckless conduct and a count of disorderly conduct, the AP reports.
Mane was also ordered to complete 12 weeks of anger management classes, and his prison sentence will be followed with probation, according to the AP. He was also ordered to pay $5,091 in restitution to the injured woman and pay a $3,000 fine.
The rapper reportedly met the woman last January after picking her up at a mall in Atlanta.
He first invited her to eat breakfast with him before offering $150 to check into a hotel with him, Aceshowbiz reports. When she refused, Mane shoved her out of his moving car. The woman was later taken to the hospital.
Mane's new jail sentence won't be his first. In 2001, he spent 90 days in prison on a cocaine possession rap. The rapper has also served 6 months in prison for an assault charge in 2005. In 2009, he was in prison for a year after violating his probation, Reuters reports.
Judging from his long record and past probation violations, Mane will likely need to be extra cautious when he gets out of prison in six months.
Courts may be more likely to impose harsher penalties on repeat probation violators. Especially considering Gucci Mane's sentence comes down just three months after he was released from jail on his most recent probation violation in April.
