Honey Boo Boo, Family Hurt in Car Crash

By Jenny Tsay, Esq. on January 08, 2014 | Last updated on March 21, 2019

Poor Honey Boo Boo -- the reality star and her family were hurt in a car crash when their SUV collided with a pickup truck.

The family sustained some injuries, like severe chest bruises, back contusions, and neck sprains. However, Mama June said this was the first time any of them were in a car accident, reports CNN.

So even if you're like Honey Boo Boo and come from an unconventional family, there are several practical steps you should take after a car accident, especially if it's your first.

Truck Driver Makes Traffic Boo-Boo

Honey Boo Boo and her family are doing alright after enduring their first car crash. The crash occurred in Milledgeville, Georgia, which is not far from their home. The family was making a left turn at a light when a pickup truck driver allegedly ran a red light and blindsided the family's SUV, reports Variety.

It's also alleged that the truck driver didn't have his headlights on when the crash occurred. Although ambulances were summoned, the family's bodyguard took the family to a local hospital of their choosing to check for injuries, according to TMZ.

Although this is their first car accident, Honey Boo's family took the right steps following a car accident.

Here Comes the First Steps After a Car Accident

After a vehicle collision, you should stay at the scene until the police arrive. Check on all passengers and drivers to make sure they're okay and call an ambulance if there are injuries.

Police reports of the accident will be generated, so make sure you obtain a copy of the report. Police reports are helpful tools for personal injury disputes, particularly in negotiating with the insurance company.

You should also keep track of all medical records -- including names of health professionals, types of treatments, and bills. Doing so will help you prove your medical expenses in the future.

Finally, consider hiring an attorney. Not only did Honey Boo and her family suffer injuries, but their new SUV was damaged in the car crash. Depending on how serious the damage is, you may want to hire an experienced car accident attorney in your area.

Fortunately, Honey Boo Boo and her family are in good spirits after the car crash -- Mama June's top priority right now is to celebrate Pumpkin's 14th birthday.
