'Jackass' Star Dies: Ryan Dunn Crash Site Near Philadelphia

By Cynthia Hsu, Esq. on June 20, 2011 | Last updated on March 21, 2019

"Jackass" movie co-star Ryan Dunn's crash in a 2007 Porsche killed him and another unidentified passenger early morning on Monday. The mother of Bam Margera, one of Dunn's "Jackass" co-stars, confirmed the news, reports The Star-Ledger.

Margera's mother said that there may have been a third person in the car, reports The Star-Ledger. And, at this point it is still unclear as to who was driving the vehicle when it crashed.

Dunn's crashed Porsche was found in a wooded area in outer Philadelphia, according to Reuters. The car had burst into flames.

Dunn, 34, had co-starred in "Jackass," a movie that essentially features risk and other daredevil stunts and pranks. The movie has grossed $330 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo.

There is no official cause for the accident yet. A preliminary investigation by the police only revealed that speed may have contributed to the accident, reports Reuters.

Right before the crash, Dunn had posted a photo of himself drinking with two other men onto his Twitter account, reports Reuters.

Dunn's death followed a long career of taking risks. Some of his "Jackass" stunts included getting launched out of a loading dock on a grocery cart at 70 miles per hour. Dunn also infamously inserted a toy car up his rectum to get a doctor to take an x-ray, reports The Star-Ledger.

Details surrounding the crash and the alleged drinking beforehand remain unclear. If alcohol was a factor in the deadly and tragic crash, in some situations whoever was serving the alcohol may be legally liable if they knowingly served an obviously intoxicated guest, then let the guest drive off. It is unclear if Dunn was or where at this point.

Ryan Dunn's crash has tragically ended his life, as well as the life of another passenger. And, it will likely be a long period of mourning for the "Jackass" crew including Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, and Steve-O, as they have likely lost not only a co-star but a friend.
