Block on Trump's Asylum Ban Upheld by Supreme Court
Good grief! Peter Robbins, the voice of Charlie Brown in those still-popular "Peanuts" TV specials, has been arrested for stalking.
The former child actor, now 56, faces five felony counts. Four of the counts are for making threats to cause death or bodily injury, and one count is for stalking, reports the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Robbins is being held on $550,000 bail. So just who would Charlie Brown stalk?
Unfortunately, details about the warrant have not been made public. It's also not quite clear what instigated his arrest.
Robbins was arrested shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday at a U.S.-Mexico border checkpoint, reports the Union-Tribune. He was alone in his car when, for some reason, a border agent approached him and then took him to another area for a more thorough examination.
That's when a records check determined that Robbins was wanted by the San Diego County Sheriff's Department for the felony warrants mentioned above. Given the charges, one can only assume that Robbins was involved in a serious incident.
Contrary to popular opinion, one usually cannot be charged with stalking simply for following someone online, asking a person out on a date two or three times, or randomly showing up at the same coffee shop as the other person.
Instead, to be charged with felony stalking, the accused typically must engage in repeated conduct that would cause a reasonable person to fear for her life or safety. So, the behavior must be very serious (and frightening) to lead to felony charges.
As details emerge about Robbins' arrest, it will be interesting to learn exactly what led to the warrants, and also what made the border agent single out Robbins' car for inspection.
Coincidentally, January is National Stalking Awareness Month. Stalking is a serious crime, and you should take appropriate steps like calling the police if you believe you are a victim.
