Block on Trump's Asylum Ban Upheld by Supreme Court
Texas rappers Paul Wall and Baby Bash were arrested in El Paso on Sunday. And, like most celebrities, Paul Wall took to Twitter to discuss his run-in with the law.
Wall tweeted that he had just spent some time "in the same tank they held Willie Nelson/Johnny Cash," and included a photo of him in the back of a police car in handcuffs, MTV reports.
The two rappers were busted for possession of 2 ounces of marijuana in a drug-free zone, reports Billboard.
Paul Wall and Baby Bash had been in town to perform at the Summer Jamm 2011 show that took place on Saturday. They were released later on Sunday afternoon after they each shelled out $300 to make their bond.
Baby Bash said that the duo admitted to smoking marijuana in court, but they didn't have drugs on them at the time of the arrest, MTV reports.
Basically, they must have smelled like they had a lot of drugs on them. Bash probably described it the best when he wrote that they "smelled like a tree," MTV reports. As a result, Bash said the situation made the arresting officers "mad cuz he thought RAPPER must have large amount!"
Do the two rappers seem to be getting off relatively easy? It's because possession of smaller quantities of drugs like marijuana are often classified as misdemeanors, depending on which state you're in. In Texas specifically, possession of under 2 ounces of marijuana is classified as a Class B misdemeanor. Possession of larger amounts may lead to felony charges.
Though Paul Wall and Baby Bash were arrested for possession, the fact is that they simply didn't have much marijuana on them. But, the two should be a bit more careful from now on. While Paul Wall's Twitter feed was relatively cheerful post-arrest, being busted is something he likely won't want to repeat.
