Shots Fired at CNN's Lou Dobbs' House Probed by Police
Lou Dobbs, a CNN television anchor and managing editor dodged gun shots fired at his New Jersey home earlier this month.
A veteran journalist, Dobbs is known for his outspoken views on topics including illegal immigration and believes he was singled out because of it. Dobbs is a fervent proponent of U.S. border enforcement.
On his recent nationally syndicated radio show, Dobbs shared his thoughts explaining "that the incident is part of an ongoing assault against anyone who opposes amnesty or leniency toward illegal immigrants."
On Oct. 5, New Jersey State police troopers were called to the Dobbs' estate in rural Wantage, N.J., at about 10:30 a.m. According to police, Dobbs and his wife were outside their home when they heard a gunshot, and a bullet struck their attic.
No injuries were reported.
Dobbs said the incident occurred after a series of threatening phone calls to his residence. Dobbs is a self-described "lifelong Republican,'' who is pro-choice and opposed to gun control.
William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration (ALIPAC), agrees that Dobbs may have been a political target. It's likely Dobbs' outspokenness on illegal immigration led to the shooting, he said.
"That shot, that attack on the Dobbs family is an attack on every American that values First Amendment rights," Gheen told Foxnews.com.
Sure, we've all heard of heard of shooting down a bad idea. But doing a driveby on someone's crib because you disagree with their ideas is definitely taking matters too far.
