Legal Job in Arkansas: Vacancy at the 8th Circuit for Public Defender

Here's an announcement for a job vacancy from the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. If you're a criminal lawyer looking for a legal job in Arkansas, you might want to listen up.

The Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals is seeking a Federal Public Defender for the Western District of Arkansas. The position is headquartered in Fayetteville.

This is a four-year position with a salary not to exceed $155,500.

Here are the job requirements:

In order to apply, you must have been admitted to the highest court of at least one state. You must also be a member in good standing of that state's bar.

In addition to those requirements, there is an experience criteria. The Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals is looking for a more experienced candidate, preferably someone with a minimum of five years experience in criminal practice with some significant trial experience.

Other requirements for this position include administrative expertise, a reputation for integrity, and a commitment to the representation of those who cannot afford counsel.

The candidate chosen for the position of Federal Public Defender may not engage in the private practice of law. Successful candidates will also be subject to judiciary financial disclosure requirements and a background investigation.
