Block on Trump's Asylum Ban Upheld by Supreme Court
The First Circuit Court of Appeals is looking for a Temporary Administrative Attorney.
This is a summer job, with the possibility of permanent employment. The position is open to Juris Doctorate graduates from an accredited law school (although the posting doesn't specify whether this means ABA-accredited.)
If you want to be considered for the position, you must have some familiarity with the appellate process and the Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure. You must also demonstrate excellent writing, organizational and communication skills.
Strong preference is given to candidates who have experience working in a federal appellate court.
In this role, you will review cases for jurisdiction, screen papers filed in the court, and draft orders on procedural motions that have been delegated to the clerk's office.
You will also be required to communicate with counsel (and pro-se litigants) on procedural issues.
Other special projects and administrative duties might be included as part of the job requirements.
As for the standard boilerplate requirements, you must be authorized to work in the United States and will be subject to a background check.
