Law Firms Open Doors to Dogs as 'Wellbeing Initiative'
Hyder Simpson said it best when he pondered a heaven without his dog Rip.
"Anyplace that's too highfalutin for Rip is too fancy for me," the old hillbilly told the gatekeeper in the Twilight Zone. "How thoroughbred does a dog have to be before you let him in there, anyway?"
Well, at one London law firm, you don't need a pedigree to take your dog to work. Eversheds Sutherland has opened an entire floor for staff members and their dogs.
It's not the annual "Take Your Dog to Work Day," which comes up next on June 22, 2018. The law firm is hosting dogs as part of a well-being initiative for employees.
"The health and well-being of our people is critical to us and we think this will be a fun and enjoyable addition to our varied programme of well-being events," said Lee Ranson, co-chief executive officer.
"Man's Best Friend" brings emotional well-being and more to some law firms. They can double as security guards, and they are as loyal as they come because, of course, dogs don't lie.
Hewitts, another law firm, decided to make a dog a regular fixture at the office. The lawyers have turned "Hewie" into a social media sensation.
For Equal Protection purposes, it seems only fair that there is a National Cat Day in the United States. It comes up Oct. 29, 2017.
"What greater gift than the love of a cat?" said Charles Dickens, as quoted by Colleen Paige, founder of National Cat Day.
Unlike Eversheds Sutherland, however, no law firms have dedicated entire floors to cats. Anyway, it just wouldn't work to have dogs and cats practicing together.
