'Geezer Bandit' Suspected of 11th California Bank Robbery
The "geezer bandit," a retirement age serial bank robber, has pulled off his 11th California bank robbery.
The suspect held up a bank in Temecula with a small caliber pistol and presented a demand not for cash, adding to the string of bank robberies the "geezer bandit" is wanted in, CNN reports.
As previously discussed, the geezer bandit is a man, believed to be in his 70s, who is suspected of robbing five banks in the San Diego area.
But authorities are now questioning whether the "geezer bandit" is really a geezer.
Investigators say that he may be wearing a mask to conceal his real age and make him appear much older than he is.
In addition, criminologists say, the motives are as elusive as suspects can be. They say the only real way to know why he's robbing banks is to talk to him.
Furthermore, generalizing about the motives of elderly robbers is tough because they're so rare, crime experts say.
The suspect was captured twice on surveillance cameras. The gray-haired man has a thin frame and weighs about 190 pounds. He was seen wearing a baseball cap, a blue blazer and several layers of clothing.
Posts on the Geezer's Facebook fan page say things like "I'm down with the Geez! I'm a HUGE fan of the GEEZER!!!" and "Git them banks!! they had it comin'," clearly cheering the bandit on.
The FBI continues to release surveillance photos of the robber, hoping someone will recognize him.
