'Heroin for Sale' Fliers Lead to Huge Portland Drug Bust
Note to all heroin producers out there: don't anger your neighbors. Otherwise, you might find yourself the target of a mass-produced and widely distributed "Heroin for Sale" flier with your name and home address on it.
At least that's the lesson that several Portland drug dealers learned after their recent bust.
Apparently, neighbors were so tired of the house's drug activity that one cobbled together the makeshift flier. The flier was even handed off to the police.
The flier was simple, all it did was advertise heroin. It also contained the address of the drug house in question. This, combined with the neighbor's complaint, eventually led police officers to search the home.
And in due time. It seems that the neighbors in the area were growing increasingly concerned about the alleged illicit activities occurring in the house.
Police found 10.9 grams of heroin, 19.2 grams of marijuana, 190 pills, $4,143 in cash and a shotgun. They arrested seven adults and took a 15-year-old into protective custody.
All of the residents were drug users, according to police. Investigators say that they were selling enough drugs to maintain their habits.
Which probably irritated their neighbors to no end.
Having a dedicated drug house on your block probably attracts less-than-ideal visitors to the area.
It probably also cuts down on street parking.
Unsurprisingly, police officers were very well-received when they made the arrests. Many neighbors lauded the investigative efforts that led to the search warrant. In fact, one resident even brought officers a bucket of fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies in gratitude.
What about the target for the "Heroin for Sale" fliers? Well, they are facing a fair amount of jail time.
