Man Sues to Recreate Wedding Photos of Failed Marriage

New Yorker Todd Remis is using our legal system the way it was intended: he's suing to recreate his wedding.
Remis claims that the photographer at his 2003 wedding skipped out about fifteen minutes early. He says they failed to take photos during the last dance and the bouquet toss.
Have we mentioned that Remis is now divorced from his wife? Oh yes, the marriage is over -- he's not even sure where his former bride is. She might be living somewhere in Latvia.
But it seems he single-mindedly has one goal. He wants $48,000 to recreate the entire lavish affair so he can get it photographed. That and he wants his money back.
Inquiring minds may want to know why Remis, an equity research analyst, decided to sue 8 years after the wedding. Or why he'd want to have his failed nuptials recreated.
Perhaps in his mind this might rekindle things with his ex-wife. It does sound like a perfect backdrop for a low-budget romantic comedy. Maybe Mila Kunis (who speaks Russian) could star.
Or maybe his anger over the missing photos has simply been brewing for 8 years until it finally exploded, manifesting itself in Remis' litigious rage.
Whatever his intentions are, it's certainly costing a lot of money for H & H Photographers, the studio that Remis has sued. The owners say that their legal fees defending the lawsuit have topped $50,000, according to The New York Times.
So does this guy's lawsuit have any chance of success?
The judge has already dismissed multiple portions of the lawsuit, including the claim of "intentional infliction of emotional distress." It seems likely that even if Todd Remis sued to recreate his wedding, and a breach of contract is found, he probably won't get what he's asking for. Do not expect a re-staged wedding, either. Courts aren't normally in the business of forcing ex-wives to pose with the former husbands for a photo-op.
