Block on Trump's Asylum Ban Upheld by Supreme Court
Crime does not pay, especially when you steal a taco truck and hit a school bus during your getaway. Then you just end up in a shooting. Specifically, you end up shot at by police and the saga ends with you in the hospital.
This is the true story of Sean Fowler, 20, and Daiquon Horne, 22, who stole a taco truck in San Bernardino on Monday morning, according to the city's local paper, The Sun. Although neither was struck by police bullets, the young men are reportedly in the hospital and will no doubt be charged criminally for their failed escapade.
Just Another Manic Monday?
On Monday morning at about 8:40 a.m. the two men took a food truck from the Amapola restaurant's corporate office. The company called in the theft and police spotted the vehicle on the freeway shortly thereafter.
According to San Bernardino police Lieutenant Richard Lawhead, the truck was spotted striking cars all along the way, although no one was reportedly seriously injured by these incidents. The truck then exited the freeway and headed into town.
But then there was a red light, which is just no good for a getaway. So the stolen taco truck made its way onto the sidewalk to avoid the traffic. That is when it knocked over a traffic signal and hit a bus with 40 students from Richardson Prep Hi Middle School. Luckily, no students were injured.
Additional buses were called to the scene. The students were picked up and went to school.
The Taco Truck
Details are not clear but witnesses did provide some insight to reporters. A witness said police shot twice at the truck after it struck the bus but it is believed that neither man inside the truck was hit by police bullets and that they are in the hospital for other injuries.
"It was crazy," said Jeremy Morales, 33, describing the incident. He pulled into a nearby gas station to get out of the way of the pursuit but remained in the area afterward. Needless to say, the intersection was shut down, making it an especially manic Monday morning for many in San Bernardino.
