Amber Sheppard (she/her) is an attorney who focuses on small business law and service dog laws. Amber, along with her service dog Tubbs, has been published over twenty times nationally and serves as legal counsel for “mom and pop” start-ups, international brands, and nonprofits. Some publications include Louisiana Association for Justice and Performance Menu.

Amber graduated at the top of her class from Mississippi College School of Law, where she was a member of moot court and law review. After graduation, she passed the bar in Louisiana and Mississippi.

Amber is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Disability Committee. She has been named 40 Under 40 and Best Attorney in East St. Tammany by EDGE Magazine four years in a row. She was featured in Sophisticated Woman Magazine as a top Northshore Attorney, writes a bi-monthly column on Working Dog Laws for the publication, and was recently named Best Attorney for East St. Tammany in 2022 by their readers.

Amber has been awarded four pro bono awards. Two from the American Bar Association for answering the most legal questions for La.FreeLegalAnswers.org and two from the Louisiana State Bar Association. In 2023, the Louisiana State Bar Association awarded her with the Century Club Award for completing over 100 pro bono hours in the calendar year.

She is currently working alongside the 22nd Judicial District Court in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, through her nonprofit Be Fierce & Kind Canine to implement the first therapy dog program in that court system. Her team’s focus is in the Child In Need of Care, Juvenile Delinquency, and Mental Health courts.

When she isn’t making legal topics easy to understand, you can find Amber dressing her dog Tubbs up in costumes, pretending she’s a stand-up comedian, and rewatching “The Simpsons” for the 100^th time.
