By The Thomson Corporation

Rick King, executive vice president and chief operations officer of Thomson North American Legal, was named to Computerworld's Premier 100 IT Leaders Awards for 2007. Thomson North American Legal is a strategic business unit within The Thomson Corporation (TSX: TOC; NYSE: TOC) that provides legal information, litigation and practice management software and workflow solutions for legal professionals in the United States and Canada.

The annual Premier 100 IT Leaders list, which honors individuals who have had a positive impact on their organizations through technology, will be published in a special section of the Dec. 11 issue of IDG's Computerworld. Honorees will also take part in the Computerworld's Premier 100 IT Leaders Conference, to be held March 4-6, 2007, in Palm Desert, Calif.

"Rick's proven leadership has made a significant and lasting impact on the success and growth of Thomson businesses worldwide, and we are proud of him for receiving this accolade," said Peter Warwick, president and chief executive officer, Thomson North American Legal. "His commitment to innovation, expansive industry knowledge and determination have helped make Thomson products more effective for customers and positioned them for continued leadership in the legal technology market for years to come."

As chief operations officer of Thomson North American Legal, King is a member of the executive team and responsible for strategy and operations in technology, content, editorial, customer experience, business acquisition integration and a portfolio of small strategic business units. Prior to his current role, he served three years as senior vice president and chief technology officer of Thomson Legal & Regulatory, a market group comprised of Thomson's legal and regulatory businesses worldwide. During his tenure the market group technology operations also were awarded "100 Best Places to Work in IT" honors for six consecutive years by Computerworld magazine.

King, who joined Thomson in 2000, started his career as a teacher, school administrator and coach in Vermont. He holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics and a master's degree in administration and planning, both from the University of Vermont.

"This year's class of honorees is characterized by a diversity that demonstrates the value of unique backgrounds and approaches in building an outstanding IT organization," said Don Tennant, editor-in-chief, Computerworld. "Yet what these individuals have in common is an expertise born of hard work and an intangible leadership quality they can tap to successfully champion IT not only as a business enabler, but as a business influencer."
