PALO ALTO, Calif., April 17, 2007
ProCurve Networking by HP today announced new and updated products in its ProActive Defense security portfolio to provide customers reliable network protection and comprehensive network access control that adapts to their existing network environments.
ProCurve Network Immunity Manager is a security management application that delivers intelligent network threat management, detection and response to help protect against threats such as virus attacks. ProCurve also plans to deliver the ProCurve Network Access Controller 800, an easy-to-use appliance that adds endpoint integrity to the company’s secure access control solution.
Lastly, the ProCurve Identity Driven Manager (IDM) 2.2 solution will be a free upgrade for existing IDM 2.0 customers. IDM 2.2 will work with the new network access controller to provide endpoint integrity while easing deployment and reducing complexity.
All ProCurve security products are part of the ProCurve ProActive Defense strategy, which combines pre-emptive techniques such as comprehensive access control with innovative defensive methods such as automated threat detection and response.
“Fortifying security for enterprises without massive and costly replacement of network infrastructure is a critical focus of ProCurve’s Adaptive Networks vision,” said Paul Congdon, chief technology officer and security business director, ProCurve Networking by HP.
New ProCurve Network Immunity Manager
ProCurve Network Immunity Manager, a plug-in to ProCurve Manager Plus 2.2, automatically detects and responds to threats. By analyzing information from multiple sources such as third-party security appliances and ProCurve network devices, the solution helps provide protection against zero day and known virus attacks in both wired and wireless networks. It also provides comprehensive reporting to assist enterprises with regulatory compliance.
Like all ProCurve products, ProCurve Network Immunity Manager is standards-based, enabling customers to easily and affordably enhance security while maximizing their existing network investments.
“The addition of Network Immunity Manager to ProCurve’s ProActive Defense portfolio allows ProCurve to offer enterprises a broader view of threats propagating across the LAN than what in-line intrusion detection devices would,” said Chris Liebert, senior analyst, Security Solutions and Services, Yankee Group. “With the additional value of offering enforcement against those threats at the port level, Network Immunity Manager delivers a compelling security strategy for enterprises.”
In related news, network security provider Fortinet has joined the ProCurve Alliance, a formalized interoperability testing and certification program that provides comprehensive, pre-qualified solutions for resellers and customers worldwide. The combination of Fortinet’s FortiGateT multi-threat security appliances and ProCurve Network Immunity Manager provides a unified network security architecture that allows customers to cost-effectively improve their overall security.
“As part of our technology alliance, Fortinet and ProCurve are working together to provide interoperable security solutions that address the internal and external security challenges of enterprises,” said Richard Stiennon, chief marketing officer, Fortinet.
Upcoming ProCurve Network Access Controller 800
ProCurve plans to introduce the ProCurve Network Access Controller 800 that provides endpoint integrity verification while easing deployment and reducing complexity. The scalable security solution, expected in the third quarter of 2007, will use ProCurve’s proven IDM technology to prevent security breaches by controlling which users have access to systems and how they connect across both wired and wireless networks.
“As a ProCurve reseller focusing on security and network access control, we understand the incredible advantage of integrating both the proactive and defensive approaches to network security in a single system to aid customers in building networks that are affordable, dependable and secure,” said Jeffrey Reed, president, Classic Networking, Inc. “ProCurve is delivering its security products and solutions the way our customers have come to expect ProCurve to deliver over the years – standards-based, easy to use, integrated and innovative.”
Updates to ProCurve Manager Plus and ProCurve Identity Driven Manager
ProCurve has enhanced both ProCurve Manager Plus, its Windowsr-based secure network management software, and ProCurve Identity Driven Manager, its security software for dynamically applying security and performance settings based on user, device, location, time and client system state.
ProCurve Manager Plus 2.2 now provides enhanced policy management and enforcement of network performance, greater information accessibility for better solution support and improved product scalability for cost-efficient implementation from small to large networks.
ProCurve IDM 2.2, expected to be available in the third quarter of 2007, will provide dynamic integration with Microsoft Active Directory, unified access control across both wired and wireless networks and easier management. IDM provides customers with secure, customized access to network resources with standardized RADIUS authentication to secure the network, allowing only approved users – when and where they are authorized – to access the network. IDM 2.2 is also fully compatible with Microsoft Network Access Protection.
Customers can improve their resource access control and receive reporting capabilities now by taking advantage of ProCurve IDM 2.0’s extensive functionality, and then will receive IDM 2.2 and all future updates for free upon availability.
