For rapper, producer, record executive, hip-hop mogul, and multimedia celebrity Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, the hits just keep on coming. Unfortunately, the most recent ones have been civil lawsuits against him.
A “John Doe” civil complaint filed this week in California by an anonymous former child actor under the pseudonym “John YH Roe” accuses Combs of sexually assaulting him in 2007 at a networking event in the Hollywood Hills. While the accuser’s exact age at the time of the alleged sexual misconduct is not given, the lawsuit claims that the victim was a minor at the time of the incident. Roe has also filed suit against his former talent agency, leaving him in a vulnerable situation without a chaperone or guardian.
A spokesperson called the claim of Combs sexually assaulting child actor Roe as yet another lie from the legions of personal injury lawyers lining up to try to cash in. Combs, who is currently incarcerated in a New Jersey federal prison as he attempts to appeal last year’s convictions on transportation to engage in prostitution charges, is already facing dozens of civil lawsuits that range from sexual battery to sex trafficking, with one of the alleged victims claiming to have been a 10-year-old at the time of the offense. He has maintained his innocence against all claims and charges against him, suggesting his legal defense team will remain busy for the foreseeable future.
Not All Publicity Is Good Publicity
For decades, Combs stood as a massive success story, a New York City kid who made it big. In addition to his numerous accomplishments in the music industry, Combs established himself as a fashion entrepreneur, dabbled in acting, and became one of the most well-known entertainers on the planet.
At the same time, rumors and questions about Combs’ behavior lurked in the background. There were long-held beliefs that he was intricately involved in the “West Coast-East Coast” beef in the hip-hop world that led to the death of rappers Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G., a theory once again thrust into the spotlight by the 2025 Netflix documentary “Sean Combs - The Reckoning.” By then, Combs was already in a different type of legal hot water as he stood trial against federal charges that included sex trafficking, false imprisonment, and racketeering for his “freak off” sex parties.
Roe’s suit alleges that Combs took the minor into a private room to talk about some potential acting work in the future. Once alone, Roe alleges that Combs gave him an alcoholic drink while they talked before beginning to rub him on the arm. When Roe indicated that he was uncomfortable, Combs attempted to calm him before allegedly pulling down Roe’s pants. The suit claims that Combs then touched Roe’s genitalia while also touching himself before proceeding to perform oral sex on Roe. Several pending lawsuits share similar accusations of teenagers being sexually assaulted by Combs, who has categorically denied all wrongdoing.

Combs was arrested in 2024 and pleaded not guilty, with the trial beginning in 2025. While Combs was acquitted on the more serious criminal charges, he was convicted on lesser trafficking charges and sentenced to four years. He’s scheduled to get out in May 2028, followed by five years of supervised release, but his criminal legal woes may not end there. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office is determining whether to file charges against him for a different sexual assault allegation.
Things don’t look much better on the civil side, with dozens of lawsuits already filed and possibly more to come. If true, Roe’s attempt to hold Combs accountable for his actions will be just one drop in a bucket of lawsuits claiming abuse at his hands.
