'Teen Moms' Search for Divorce Attorneys Online: They're Just Like Us
Okay, so maybe we don't want them to be just like us. But in some ways, they are.
On a recent episode of Teen Mom 2, Leah decides that it's time to get a divorce. Corey, her baby daddy and husband of 6 months, just doesn't want to make it work. There was a little too much cheating going on.
But once it's decided, how do you find a lawyer? In perhaps one of the smartest decisions she has ever made, Leah went online.
The mother of twins turned to Google, searching for "divorce attorney Charleston, WV." And as this clip shows, she found, and called attorney Lyne Ranson:

It's incredibly common for individuals to find and research attorneys online, according to a survey conducted by FindLaw. It's a great place to learn about a lawyer's practice, successes and reputation. Truthfully, you'd be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't at least run a quick web search.
From the clip, Leah seemed to luck out. An initial consultation goes much like the conversations between her and Ranson. Good attorneys will ask thorough questions and ensure that divorce is really what you want, and not some lesser option. They'll also explain documents so you know exactly what you're signing.
Some, like Ranson, may even be incredibly quick. Divorce petitions are pretty standard, especially for people with few assets and simple demands. If an attorney is on the ball, she can have your name and requests inserted into a template within minutes.
