Was "Real Housewife" Michaele Salahi Kidnapped?
Real Housewives of DC star and part-time White House dinner party crasher Michaele Salahi was kidnapped this week.
Oh wait, she wasn't.
Turns out, Michaele actually decided to make an impromptu trip to Tennessee with Journey guitarist and former flame Neal Schon. But of course, she didn't tell her husband. Tareq Salahi ended up alerting the local police, frantically claiming that his wife had been kidnapped, Time reports.
It all started with Michaele missed a hair appointment on Tuesday, Time reports. This alerted her husband that something might be wrong - especially when he received a suspicious phone call from his wife from a phone number he didn't recognize.
Michaele initially reassured her husband over the phone that she was fine and was with her mother. Except, Tareq checked up on his wife's story, only to find that Michaele's mother hadn't heard from her, Time reports. This is when he reached out to police for assistance.
Police say that Michaele herself contacted police to reassure them that she was fine, according to Time. Police then broke the news to Tareq that his wife had left willingly.
She is reportedly safe and is now with Schon, the 80’s rocker.
Filing a false police report or reporting a nonexistent crime can net individuals a criminal charge. This is because making false reports to police can divert precious resources away from fighting real crimes. Remember all the money and resources that went into finding "Balloon Boy"?
But, authorities believe that Tareq genuinely thought his wife was kidnapped at the time. They don't plan on pressing charges against the unlucky husband, according to CBS News.
So it turns out that Michaele Salahi wasn't kidnapped after all. Though, her publicity-filled liaison with Neal Schon isn't the first time she's been in the press. After her Real Housewives stint she appeared on VH1's Celebrity Rehab until she was booted for not actually having an addiction.
