Redneck Heaven 'Breastaurant' Covered by New Body-Paint Law

By Aditi Mukherji, JD | Last updated on

Redneck Heaven, a Texas food joint in the "breastaurant" industry a la Hooters and Twin Peaks, can't use body paint as a proxy for clothes anymore.

A city ordinance change in Lewisville, Texas, means Redneck Heaven -- known for its "Anything But Clothes" days -- can no longer clad female servers in mere pasties and body paint.

It's a big blow to the busty restaurant, considering it only adopted the body paint idea after a 2011 local ordinance required more coverage during the promotion.

The council voted 4-0 in favor of an ordinance change, reports Dallas/Fort Worth's KDFW-TV.

Despite potential hygiene issues (Would you like some skin flakes and body paint chips with that?), the decision was purely about indecent (northern) exposure. And indecent exposure laws vary widely depending on where you are.

In Lewisville, lawmakers concluded that body paint is not considered an opaque cover-up, which is a requirement under the city's decency policy.

"It's a restaurant that's between two family restaurants," one resident, who showed photos of the scantily clad servers to council members, told KDFW.

So there you have it. Community members were concerned about not-so-hidden peaks and valleys being wedged between family restaurants.

Others, however, will miss the scenic view. "As long as the girls are OK with it, it's fine by me," one male patron said.

But there are ways around the ruling. Where there is cleavage a will, there is a way.

The "breastaurant" could potentially apply for a Sexually Oriented Business license, which is a permit that allows more nudity than a normal restaurant.

"Breast" assured, Concerned Community Members of Lewisville: Redneck Heaven's owner plans to abide by the ruling, reports KDFW. The women are still allowed to wear bikini tops -- they just can't sport pasties and body paint anymore.
