Teen Tried to Bust Disbarred Lawyer Dad Out of Prison with Bobby Pin

In a scene straight out of a movie, Andre Glenn Rogers, 19, is being held by police after he allegedly tried to help his father break out of prison by smuggling a bobby pin into a courtroom. His father, Duane Rogers, stands accused of sexual assault.
Duane Rogers is a disbarred lawyer currently in custody in Boulder, Colorado.
The former attorney is accused of sexually assaulting a girl over a five-year period between 2003 and 2008. He has a history of trying to elude his trial - he was first scheduled to be tried in September 2009 but when he didn't show authorities found him in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, reports the Daily Camera.
Andre Rogers was sitting behind his father in the courtroom. An officer noticed that he was reaching into his pocket, the Daily Camera reports.
After Andre Rogers left the courtroom, an officer approached him and asked him what was in his pockets. Rogers replied that it was a bobby pin, but had no explanation for why he would have it, reports the Daily Camera. Case in point: the young man has short hair.
Maybe Andre Rogers really did plan on passing the bobby pin over to his father. Though, the question then turns to what Duane Rogers could actually do with a bobby pin if he got it. Unless he's an ex-attorney who is also MacGyver - or has some sort of experience with lock picking - it seems most laypeople would be perplexed as to how to escape custody with only a bobby pin on hand.
Whatever Andre Rogers' intentions were, now he's landed himself into some trouble. Aiding and abetting in a crime is usually a crime in itself, and the punishment may vary depending on the severity of the crime and how involved the perpetrator is.
Andre Glenn Rogers is being held on a $10,000 bond. And his father, Duane Rogers? He's being held on a $1 million bond, with a trial on the sexual assault charge and the attempted escape to Mexico slated to begin in December, according to the Daily Camera.
