Va. Woman Runs Illegal Strip Club From Home
Patrons of an alleged illegal strip club in a Virginia home got their share of cheap thrills at the house's debauched blowouts.
Sonya Fletcher, 36, was the focus of a month-long investigation into "stripper parties" being held at her house, reports The Virginian-Pilot. But it was an apparent lack of cheap drinks that got the "club" busted by police.
What did police find when they raided this unique home-based business?
Domestic Dancing
According to a search warrant affidavit filed by Suffolk, Va. police, officers had received reports that a home on a residential street in Suffolk was hosting parties. Investigating the reports, officers encountered a woman the warrant calls "concerned citizen #1" who complained to the officers that the alcohol being sold at the house for "$2 a drink" was too expensive.
Further investigation revealed that Fletcher was allegedly selling liquor and food at the house while multiple women, including Fletcher, stripped. Police raided the home and found 3 bottles of Corona, 11 bottles of liquor, 16 cans of Bud Light, three packs of plastic cups, two coolers, and two marijuana roaches. No word on whether there were any poles located inside.
Common Nuisance
Despite the reports of dirty dancing going on inside the house, law enforcement officials were more concerned with the apparent drug activity surrounding the residence. According to the affidavit, multiple drug dealers frequented the house, perhaps filling in for those "overpriced" drinks.
Fletcher and her associate Jeffrey Pope were both charged with "maintaining a common nuisance." Under Virginia law, this offense includes knowingly permitting or maintaining a dwelling "frequented by persons under the influence of illegally obtained controlled substances or marijuana." Fletcher was also charged with marijuana possession. Both offenses are punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine of $2,500.
If Fletcher's illegal strip club was a common nuisance, makes you wonder what an "uncommon" nuisance would be.
