Block on Trump's Asylum Ban Upheld by Supreme Court
It's not that we're judging Gerard P. Streator for being attracted to the couch on the sidewalk but his decision to have sex with the sofa in public was not a good one.
He also had bad timing. An off-duty police officer was jogging around 11 pm when he allegedly saw Streator humping the couch. When the officer called out to him, Streator attempted to flee. So the officer chased the Wisconsin man back to his apartment and contacted the police department.
He went back to the next day to find Streator which is where the story gets more interesting. Someone else was there to greet the officer while Streator was at work.
When the officer showed up, Streator's wife answered the door, according to the Waukesha Patch. She told officers that he had been home the whole night.
That's right. The suspect apparently had a wife at home while he purportedly went out looking for cute young sofas.
Police tracked Streator to his place of work and arrested him. He denied the incident and also said he was at home with his wife and had gone to sleep before 11 pm. That makes it a he said-he said debate over whether it really was Streator.
Unfortunately the guy who accused him is a cop. This may be a good time for a sleep walking defense.
Prosecutors charged Streator with lewd and lascivious behavior for his adult activities with the couch, reports the Huffington Post. That charge is generally used for inappropriate sexual actions that don't fall within another a specific law.
The officer's claim doesn't indicate that Streator was exposing himself but having sex outside is still not something our society encourages.
The fact that it's with a couch just means no one else will get in trouble. If it was another person they would likely also be charged. When it comes to amorous encounters, keep it inside to avoid getting in trouble.
Streator hasn't admitted to anything but prosecutors aren't dropping the claims. His first court appearance is scheduled for October 1.
