Woman Pleads Not Guilty to Slicing Off Husband's Penis

By Cynthia Hsu, Esq. | Last updated on

Catherine Kieu Becker, 48, has pled not guilty to charges that she sliced off her husband's penis and threw it into a garbage disposal last July.

Becker, from Garden Grove, California, was arrested and charged with felony torture and aggravated mayhem.

The strange and cringe-inducing crime started over an argument between Becker and her husband about her husband's male friend staying over, according to The Daily Mail.

The couple, who married in 2009, was already embroiled in divorce proceedings at the time.

Becker allegedly drugged her husband's tofu dinner after they argued. When he passed out, she tied him to the bed and took a 10-inch blade to his penis.

Becker allegedly told police that her husband "deserved it" when they responded to the grisly scene. How can she plead "not guilty" to the charges?

It could be that she's pleading not guilty because her attorneys believe they have a strong defense.

Remember Lorena Bobbitt, the woman who cut off her husband's penis after years of sexual abuse in 1993? There seems to be no question that she committed the crime. But, she was declared not guilty by reason of insanity.

Maybe Becker's attorneys are launching a similar legal strategy.

Whatever the case, Catherine Kieu Becker has a lot at stake in this trial. If she is found guilty, the woman who sliced off her husband's penis may be facing up to a lifetime in prison.
