Judge Ronald M. Whyte, Paul F. Eckstein to Receive Awards
Here's some news from the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals this week:
With the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference approaching, some of the awards recipients have been announced.
San Jose area Judge Ronald M. Whyte and Phoenix area attorney Paul F. Eckstein will be honored with special awards.
Judge Ronald M. Whyte of the United States District Court in the Northern District of California will be honored with the 2011 Ninth Circuit Professionalism Award from the American Inns of Court. American Inns of Court is a national organization that promotes mentorship and collegiality among the bar.
The Inns of Court Award is given to a lawyer or a judge who displays “unquestioned integrity” and “sterling character” as well as an “ongoing dedication to the highest standards of the legal profession and the rule of law.”
Paul Eckstein is being presented with the John Frank Award, awarded under the same criteria as the Inns of Court Award. The award was established by the Judicial Council of the Ninth Circuit to honor excellence in the practice of law in the federal courts in the western states.
Mr. Eckstein is a civil litigator practicing with the law firm of Perkins & Coie. He has argued before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the federal courts in Arizona, Texas and California as well as before the state courts of Arizona.
Judge Whyte received his J.D. from the University of Southern California Law School in 1967. Paul Eckstein received his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1965.
The Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference will be held in Carlsbad, California from August 15-18, at the La Costa Resort.
