Block on Trump's Asylum Ban Upheld by Supreme Court
Jean Reno has acted in movies about assassins, killers, and spies -- and sometimes died in those roles.
So it was a surprise to see a real-life mug shot of a terrorist who looked just like him. That's about where the similarities end.
Amor Ftouhi, 53, has been convicted of stabbing a police officer in a terrorist act. Despite a death wish, however, it looks like this terrorist won't die.
"Soldier of Allah"
Ftouhi was charged last year after he attacked an officer at the Bishop International Airport in Flint, Michigan. He stabbed Jeff Neville in the neck with a large knife while shouting:
"Allahu Akbar! You have killed people in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, and we are all going to die!"
After witnesses subdued Ftouhi, he told investigators that he was a "soldier of Allah" and that his "mission was to kill and be killed." He said he followed al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden.
According to reports, he entered the United States from Canada five days before the attack with a plan to kill American police officers. Authorities said he acted alone.
In closing arguments, defense attorney Joan Morgan said her client was unstable and believed it would be easier to be killed by police in the U.S. than in Canada.
"He was a person who was absolutely looking for a way out," she said.
Jurors found him guilty in about an hour. After the verdict, Neville told reporters that the decision gave him some peace.
He said he would rather be working at the airport again, but suffered nerve damage and is changing careers. Ftouhi, for his part, is facing life in prison.
