8 Best Law-Related Humor Blogs on Tumblr
We've all been through the three years of hazing known as law school, all the while wishing that someone would punch that gunner in the forehead. We've graduated, spent months studying for the bar, only to spend more months waiting for results.
And when we make it out into the real world, many of us have also been through unemployment and the excruciating job hunt. And when we do land that job? We have to deal with crap from ungrateful clients and opposing counsel.
With that much stress, and cynical, analytical minds, comes some truly great inside jokes, presented here as a list of animated image (gif) Tumblr blogs, from school-time beginnings, to the perils of practice:
1. When in Law School
This well done gif-blog traces "those moments," from 1L hell to besting (or being bested by) the bar exam.
2. Law School GIFs
Another 1L-to-bar blog, just in case you didn't get enough from the previous entry. Quick tip for both: click the archives to go to older posts that may be more relevant to you (as a 1L or 2L).
3. Bar Exam Hell
Though the last two Tumblrs end with the burdens of the bar exam, this blog focuses exclusively on that excruciating period of your life, and does so quite well.
4. Legal Unemployment
Moments like that time your uncle promises to ask around to see if anyone is hiring, and though you are grateful, you know there is no chance in hell that it'll actually lead to employment. Or that interview with that shady personal injury firm that somehow, still, didn't lead to a job offer.
Is this the worst period of your life? Probably. Commiserate.
5. What the Public Defender?
Their jobs may be rewarding, but boy are they tough. PDs often provide intelligent advice to their client only to be insulted or verbally attacked in response. Better yet, the client goes against their advice and says or does something incredibly stupid that kills their case. Plus, PDs are often paid half as much, and worked twice as hard, as the local prosecutors.
It's a hard knock life. This blog finds the humor in the highs and lows of one of the most important, and most undervalued, positions in the legal field.
6. What the Prosecutors?
Taking a page from the WTPD blog, WTP covers the same angles, from the prosecutor's point of view. Personally, I find the public defender's darker humor to be more amusing becausetheir clients provide better material, and because most of my friends are PDs.
7. Lawyer Men Explain Things to Me
Lawyers are arrogant. Frequently, so are men. Legal misogyny can be pretty funny, so long as you aren't the woman involved.
8. Life in BigLaw
With over 3 million visitors to date, this oft-recommended Tumblr rings true with a lot of people out there, even those outside of BigLaw. (Online shopping at work? I would never!)
