Casey Anthony Trial Judge Admonishes, Threatens Lawyers

By Stephanie Rabiner, Esq. on June 27, 2011 | Last updated on March 21, 2019

The defense has repeatedly claimed that Casey Anthony was molested by both her father and brother, often insinuating that one of the two men is the father of Caylee.

When Baez brought this up in front of the jury, Judge Perry scolded the attorney, reports Reuters. He was told to brush up on "good faith questions."

An FBI DNA expert had already confirmed that neither of the men had fathered Caylee.

It gets worse.

Judge Perry ordered both sides to exchange reports detailing the opinions of expert witnesses, but on Saturday, he again scolded Jose Baez for failing to disclose the opinions of a forensic anthropologist.

And then, last week, CNN reports that prosecutor Jeff Ashton raised the same issue with another witness.

They squabbled, in open court, for at least a half hour before Judge Perry intervened with a few threats.

The two attorneys were told to start acting like professionals, reports CNN. And if they don't, he would exclude important evidence despite a possible mistrial and force them into working long days.

He also reportedly told both Jose Baez and prosecutor Jeff Ashton that he would deal with them at the end of the case.
