Chicago Prosecutor Bit Man's Leg While Drunk, Cops Say

By Andrew Lu on September 26, 2012 | Last updated on March 21, 2019

Cook County prosecutor Sarah Naughton was arrested Saturday night after being kicked out of a store and allegedly biting a man on the sidewalk.

Naughton may have taken her bulldog persona in the courtroom a bit too far, if the allegations are true.

Witnesses say that the incident began with the 31-year-old Naughton and her male companion at the Taboo Tabou store in Chicago, reports the Chicago Sun-Times. If you're not familiar with Taboo Tabou, it is a shop that specializes in sexy lingerie and kinky sex toys.

Both Naughton and her guy friend appeared to be drunk and were reportedly causing a disturbance inside the sex shop. Alcohol, sex toys, and burnt out attorneys, it's not too hard to imagine Naughton getting naughty.

However, the pair was apparently a bit too raucous and were kicked out of the shop despite Naughton allegedly dropping that she was a powerful prosecutor, reports the Sun-Times.

Outside the shop, the drunk duo allegedly got into it with the manager of the store next door, the Blue Havana cigar lounge. Naughton's male friend allegedly shoved the store manager and Naughton lunged in and bit the manager on the leg. She allegedly used enough force to break the man's skin, requiring the manager to seek medical attention.

Naughton was charged with misdemeanor battery and criminal trespassing. She was released on her own recognizance.

Perhaps more seriously, Naughton was also placed on administrative leave and she has been removed from her cases. The state's attorney's office is also conducting an internal investigation. Naughton had been an employee of the state's attorney's office for eight years and has some high-profile cases to her name.

Hopefully, this drunken incident will be viewed for what it is -- one drunken incident. It would be a shame to see a promising young prosecutor's career ruined with a single (alleged) bite.
