Law Firms Garnered Free Publicity with Free Cab Rides

By Cynthia Hsu, Esq. | Last updated on

Law firms that offer free cab rides on New Year's Eve are doing their community a good service. They're reducing the number of potential accidents by taking inebriated drivers off the road.

They're also receiving free publicity.

Talk about a good way to land goodwill from potential clients.

It's a trend that seems to be growing. Many news outlets from across the nation have reported stories of do-good law firms sponsoring cab rides.

Many of these programs are sponsored by personal injury attorneys.

The programs give inebriated patrons the ability to call a hotline to request a free ride home.

This might seem illogical to some attorneys. After all, personal injury lawyers represent clients injured in car accidents. They also represent victims of drunk drivers.

Yet, nobody really wants accidents to happen -- even attorneys. Ultimately, helping out a community-based program will do more good than harm.

What will the free ride program accomplish? For one, it increases your firm's presence in communities. Individuals will pass on the name of the law firm and its sponsored program to friends and family. The resulting effect? More people will recognize your firm's name.

And, individuals will become more familiar with your firm's practice areas.

Lastly, small firm owners need to be cognizant of their clients. The more you become integrated with your community, the more likely clients will trust you.

So, if you're looking for a marketing angle, offering free cab rides may be a viable option. That is, if you have enough money in your budget. It's not exactly cheap -- especially if you end up paying the tab for a boatload of tipsy riders.
