Lawyerly Holiday Gifts in a Click

By William Vogeler, Esq. on December 16, 2016 | Last updated on March 21, 2019

Don't worry, when it comes ordering holiday gifts for legal professionals, you haven't missed the deadline -- but you're cutting it close. There are just a few days left to buy and deliver some presents before it really is too late. That, of course, means some serious online shopping. Santa's sleigh is now powered by search engines!

Here are some clickable gift suggestions for those lawyerly people in your life or office, gifts that just might arrive on time.

1. A gavel.

Every lawyer wishes for a gavel, usually after an unfavorable ruling.

2. Artwork

If not the real thing, a picture of a gavel might do.

3. A cartoon book

Not just any cartoon book; it's got to be the New Yorker's Book of Lawyer Cartoons.

4. A serious book

How about a Supreme Court justice's biography for stocking stuffing? The Notorious RBG will almost fit.

5. A board game

For those moments when everybody is bored: the Lawsuit Board Game.

6. Food gifts

Assorted nuts are often found around a law firm. And Harry & David almost sounds like a law firm.

7. Mugs, plaques and t-shirts

This tip counts for at least three gift ideas, not necessarily great ones, designed specifically for law firms.

Many retailers offer holiday gifts for professionals, which includes most lawyers, and it is easy to search for them online. But it takes time to search, and that's not something attorneys usually give away for free.

So to save you criminal lawyers unreasonable searching, consider a $20 doormat that says: "Come Back with a Warrant." Or for the next generation of young lawyers, how about a $10 bib that says: Attorney Work Product.

Hiring during the holidays? Post the job for free on Indeed, or search local candidate resumes.
