It's the beauty of a common law system, people. Another nice feature of the common law is that sometimes the absurd legal ideas mocked in the headnote of the day are no longer good points of law.
Some of the subjects are obscure, some are well-known, but the end result is always a nice chuckle and a reminder that the law isn't such a serious thing, even when it's trying to be.
