Block on Trump's Asylum Ban Upheld by Supreme Court
Where to find ...
After "find near me," it's one of the driving questions of internet searches. And like so many people who get lost using Siri to get around, it can lead to endless, irrelevant results.
This blog post will shorten that search down to a handful of places -- as if. With a big tongue-in-cheek caveat, here are the best legal words on the internet and where to find them:
Because language evolves through usage, Twitter is the first source for the best words on the internet. President Trump has already created at least two new expressions.
Last year he made up "covfefe," and this year he made it legal with "special council." They may not make the Oxford Dictionary, but they definitely mean something.
The ABA Journal didn't invent "blawg," but did give a good explanation: "Blogs, sometimes spelled "blawgs" in a legal context, have become a popular way for lawyers to keep up with legal news and trends."
Did you see how we did that? Misspelling can create new words. And you thought the president just didn't know how to spell.
So not to boast, but FindLaw is absolutely, relatively speaking, the Number One legal blog out there. Or here, since you are here now.
Witness the popular feature called, "Etymology of 5 Common Legal Terms."
In the legal blogosphere, Above the Law has a special place. That would be second place.
Seriously, the sometimes irreverent blawg is not afraid to post great legal words -- including four-letter words. But you won't find offensive reader comments there anymore because, as many blawgers have learned, they can be not so great.
